  What does the word "Corrientes" mean?

Corrientes means currents. As in Currents in the ocean, or electrical currents.

Corrientes is an original three piece band from NY. All Corrientes music is recorded, mixed, and produced by Ivette Torres in a home studio. Ivette is a Cuban-American, born in NY. Corrientes songs are in both English and Spanish. There's a section on the Corrientes website called "EVT Productions" where the techniques and gear being used on recordings are discussed.

Alchemically speaking, Niche Work is a means of summoning, defeating and mastering the force that keeps you at a distance from your life's true work, the thing that you are meant to do with all of your skills and talents during each and every second you spend on this Earth.  It's the thing that no one but you is able to do.

And for those of you who are new to the Reconsiderate sound, it typically sounds a bit like Bjork and John Linnell (from They Might Be Giants) got together and reproduced, but their love child was orphaned in a horrible accident, and then got picked up & raised by Tool. It's composed on the computer, and often is loop-based. Some songs are instrumental, and others have lyrics. In the ones that have lyrics, the words are delivered in a half-spoken / half-sung style. Generally, the songs tend toward the intense, confrontational and thought provoking.

This release from 2007 offers 68 minutes of fleet electronic music.

Synth.nl is Michael van Osenbruggen. Energetic electronics flourish here, creating engaging tunes peppered with sliding punctuations and chugging rhythms. A versatility is present in the electronics. Airy textures roil at the edges, evoking the impression that each song is zooming along. Crystalline chords swirl with jubilant resolve, generating a mood of amiable comfort.

Sharper riffs are triggered by nimble-fingered keyboards, establishing an invigorating effervescence. Deeper tones are utilized to provide a grounding element for the rest of the sounds, enhancing the overall sense of determined movement. The snappy percussion helps to maintain the melodies constant motion, allowing no pause in the breathless flow. The rhythms are tastefully integrated into the mix in a manner that renders the beats into a contributory role rather than a driving force. This generation of this music was inspired by van Osenbruggen’s interest in racing cars and swift aircraft. A sense of velocity is dominant in the compositions. Bouncy melodies are established and then seasoned with sprightly embellishments that expertly communicate an aerodynamic quality to the listener.

While speed plays a factor, the music is not hyperactive, transmitting rapidity through emotional impact instead of a frantic pace.

Gary Taylor, an Icelandic/English hybrid, based in Birmingham/Reykjavik, i started making music from an early age, inspired by the original music of the time, Punk, New Wave, Reggae, Electro Pop, Disco, Funk, playing drums on cardboard boxes and tins writing lyrics and singing with friends in my parents Garage (we thought we were a real Band), from there on i played on whatever Home keyboard, Piano, Organ i could lay my hands on, always dreaming of Synthesizers and Studios and being rich and famous (Not the case now I may add), over time I made music with my friends at home on simple old School Yamaha and Casio keyboards with added drums (you know the ones with a button for drum fills), we added taped recordings of cool phrases from Video Films of the day (yes it was the 80's and its called Sampling and Editing now), this was the start of my creative approach to music, I started DJ'ing around this period, Scratching, Mixing up Tapes and general madness on the Turntables which i still involve in my music from time to time, then came the 90's and i worked and played hard and bought myself my first Home Studio, I worked under the name of Solid Dawn and built up a good back catalogue of ideas and Demos all the time working harder on my DJ live set performances, this is where I really learnt what music was all about, people, gatherings, inspiration, new technology and attitudes and different approaches to making music, for me another perfect building block, then when the millennium came i started teaching myself more musical skill, production, engineering, everything about the musical process i could find out about, I also went back to college to learn more about music production, now I feel the time is right for people to hear my music and sounds, with the added confidence and mobility the Internet brings I've started my Alba Beat project up here on MySpace, so there we have me in a nutshell people all up to date.  From Montreal, Canada Misteur Valaire is made up of Luis (percussions and spokes person), France (base, synthesizer), DRouin (saxophone, synthesizer), Jules (drums, decks, programming) and To (trumpet, piano, synthesizer, programming). Each of these five 20 year-olds from Sherbrooke already has 14 years of musical experience! At age six, the band members were already starting to hone their musical skills. Their solid musical expertise is the product of their strict "academic jazz" training. Today, Misteur Valaire cleverly combines musical knowledge with sequencers, turntables, computers and various electronic gadgets. Thanks to the originality of its music, Misteur Valaire will make its way to the top of Quebec's cultural scene. In fact, the band has already won several awards, including the Étoiles Galaxie de Radio-Canada prize at the Bourse Rideau 2007 event, as well as the Québec Wallonie-Bruxelles pour la jeunesse prize awarded as part of the Vue sur la Relève festival. Their music is free. Misteur Valaire believes music should be distributed freely and without restriction in order to reach as many listeners as possible. Since September 5th, 2007, the band's web album, Friterday Night, can be downloaded for free at www.misteurvalaire.ca In only one month, more than 3 600 people have downloaded this web album! The fans don't have to feel guilty about "pirating", since by doing so, all they're doing is helping to promote the band. Electromagnetic Impulses vs The Green Dragon .. Electromagnetic Impulses is: Jason Mallett a music producer of all electronica genres, who has been producing music for the past 10 years. He first appeared on the Internet in Feb 2007, and within 8 months had written and produced over 35 tracks, found a manager, released his first EP, as well as building up a strong fan base. He even got nominated for a music award. Not bad for 12 months work! His music is heavily influenced by Infected Mushroom and Dave Clarke so many tracks will have elements of both.. also he has been greatly influenced by the likes of: Kosheen, Faithless, Pendulum, Orbital, Astral Projection, Tiesto, Enigma, Dire Straights and Pink Floyd.  Kinetik were formed in 1994, evolving from the remains of Elektro-Kinetik, a band who had made a name for themselves through some well received sets at the Blackpool Kraftwerk Conventions in 1993 and 1994 where they played a selection of the Dusseldorfer's best loved tracks and attracted much praise from the attendees and electronic music press. Colin Jordan was born in London but moved to Pembrokeshire, Wales in 1984 to escape the big city bustle. Electronic Music had already made a big impression on him via the discovery of J.M. Jarre's 'Oxygene' in 1977 and soon discovered other influential artistes such T. Dream and Klaus Schulze. After purchasing a Korg MS10 synthesizer in 1980, Colin quickly built up an arsenal of (mainly analogue) gear and formed his first band 'Axxent Opaque' in the early 1980's. In 1985 Colin met up with Shirleyann Davies, a Pembrokeshire based woodwind teacher at a local music club in Tenby, West Wales. Shirleyann at the time was a successful woodwind soloist often playing on both radio and Welsh T.V. The two surprisingly found they shared an admiration for Kraftwerk and electronic music (Shirleyann had also purchased a Korg MS10 in the early 80's !). Spurred on by this, the pair began to collaborate on their own brand of music which eventually led through Paul Wilkinson, a mutual friend to an invitation to perform a set of Kraftwerk material at the conventions in Blackpool. Elektro-Kinetik was thus formed and was joined initially by David England (a much acclaimed artist who still contributes to Kinetik's CD artwork and computer graphics) as a guest on electronic percussion for the 1993 convention. In 1994, Simon Darvell, a music technology student stepped into David's shoes playing percussion and electric guitar ( ! ) for the following year's convention which pioneered the band's technique of synchronising computer generated images to their live music. Kinetik's latest studio album MODEM TIMES (KCD10), based upon the themes of communication and digital technology, is available to buy from their website.

 Knut Andresen (a.k.a. K-minor) is a Norwegian music producer who started his career as a drum and guitar player in various local bands in Oslo. With the improvements of today's technology, he became one of those music producers who broke the limitations of being stuck to the massive sound recording studios, and global record labels. His collaborations with various musicians in Norway and in other countries, helped his style to be vibrant and colourful. He is using various techniques to form compositions by blending electronic and acoustic sounds. The results are rich and melodic songs with groovy rhythms. Gary Taylor, an Icelandic/English hybrid, based in Birmingham/Reykjavik, i started making music from an early age, inspired by the original music of the time, Punk, New Wave, Reggae, Electro Pop, Disco, Funk, playing drums on cardboard boxes and tins writing lyrics and singing with friends in my parents Garage (we thought we were a real Band), from there on i played on whatever Home keyboard, Piano, Organ i could lay my hands on, always dreaming of Synthesizers and Studios and being rich and famous (Not the case now I may add), over time I made music with my friends at home on simple old School Yamaha and Casio keyboards with added drums (you know the ones with a button for drum fills), we added taped recordings of cool phrases from Video Films of the day (yes it was the 80's and its called Sampling and Editing now), this was the start of my creative approach to music, I started DJ'ing around this period, Scratching, Mixing up Tapes and general madness on the Turntables which i still involve in my music from time to time, then came the 90's and i worked and played hard and bought myself my first Home Studio, I worked under the name of Solid Dawn and built up a good back catalogue of ideas and Demos all the time working harder on my DJ live set performances, this is where I really learnt what music was all about, people, gatherings, inspiration, new technology and attitudes and different approaches to making music, for me another perfect building block, then when the millennium came i started teaching myself more musical skill, production, engineering, everything about the musical process i could find out about, I also went back to college to learn more about music production, now I feel the time is right for people to hear my music and sounds, with the added confidence and mobility the Internet brings I've started my Alba Beat project up here on MySpace, so there we have me in a nutshell people all up to date.  From Montreal, Canada Misteur Valaire is made up of Luis (percussions and spokes person), France (base, synthesizer), DRouin (saxophone, synthesizer), Jules (drums, decks, programming) and To (trumpet, piano, synthesizer, programming). Each of these five 20 year-olds from Sherbrooke already has 14 years of musical experience! At age six, the band members were already starting to hone their musical skills. Their solid musical expertise is the product of their strict "academic jazz" training. Today, Misteur Valaire cleverly combines musical knowledge with sequencers, turntables, computers and various electronic gadgets. Thanks to the originality of its music, Misteur Valaire will make its way to the top of Quebec's cultural scene. In fact, the band has already won several awards, including the Étoiles Galaxie de Radio-Canada prize at the Bourse Rideau 2007 event, as well as the Québec Wallonie-Bruxelles pour la jeunesse prize awarded as part of the Vue sur la Relève festival. Their music is free. Misteur Valaire believes music should be distributed freely and without restriction in order to reach as many listeners as possible. Since September 5th, 2007, the band's web album, Friterday Night, can be downloaded for free at www.misteurvalaire.ca In only one month, more than 3 600 people have downloaded this web album! After 20+ years of not writing or playing music I caught the bug again after hearing excellent bands Matinee Club, mind-in--a-box and all the great electronic music out there at the moment. About Crash Repeat Crash Repeat are a two-piece live electro band. Often improvising, they bring together a range of techno and 80's synth influences alongside busy rhythms, eclectic drum loops and weird vocals. Smitt and Crossen met in 2003 at one of Birmingham’s many depressing admin offices. Between shuffling papers they decided to collaborate on some progressive dance tracks and worked together on and off whilst Crossen, a keyboard musician and would-be producer since the age of 12, also made music for independent films and produced music for other bands. Eventually, in January of 2005, they joined up on a more permanent basis with two other artists to form electro-funk band ‘Jamaha Fut’. After a short run Jamaha Fut broke up but Smitt and Crossen, encouraged by their new sound, continued to work together under the name Crash Repeat. Stu has come a long way since his first 8 track sequencer and now spends almost every free minute programming new loops and sounds into an array of synthesizers and processors. When not dancing to Breakbeat or Techno, Smitt writes lyrics linked closely to his interests outside of the band, bringing together seemingly random subject matter, including everything from comic books to politics. During live sets they keep a loose improvised feel to the proceedings, Crossen develops the beats, bleeps and rhythms from behind his equipment whilst Smitt leaps about, energized by the music, keeping the crowd on their toes. They’ve played together now in a few placed across the West Midlands, recently taking part in a ‘Battle of the Bands’. Now they’ve got their eyes fixed on the dance-floors of Birmingham and the Black Country, eager to play for those with an ear for non-commercial, unconventional electro-techno.

Gary Taylor, an Icelandic/English hybrid, based in Birmingham/Reykjavik, i started making music from an early age, inspired by the original music of the time, Punk, New Wave, Reggae, Electro Pop, Disco, Funk, playing drums on cardboard boxes and tins writing lyrics and singing with friends in my parents Garage (we thought we were a real Band), from there on i played on whatever Home keyboard, Piano, Organ i could lay my hands on, always dreaming of Synthesizers and Studios and being rich and famous (Not the case now I may add), over time I made music with my friends at home on simple old School Yamaha and Casio keyboards with added drums (you know the ones with a button for drum fills), we added taped recordings of cool phrases from Video Films of the day (yes it was the 80's and its called Sampling and Editing now), this was the start of my creative approach to music, I started DJ'ing around this period, Scratching, Mixing up Tapes and general madness on the Turntables which i still involve in my music from time to time, then came the 90's and i worked and played hard and bought myself my first Home Studio, I worked under the name of Solid Dawn and built up a good back catalogue of ideas and Demos all the time working harder on my DJ live set performances, this is where I really learnt what music was all about, people, gatherings, inspiration, new technology and attitudes and different approaches to making music, for me another perfect building block, then when the millennium came i started teaching myself more musical skill, production, engineering, everything about the musical process i could find out about, I also went back to college to learn more about music production, now I feel the time is right for people to hear my music and sounds, with the added confidence and mobility the Internet brings I’ve started my Alba Beat project up here on MySpace, so there we have me in a nutshell people all up to date. About i-replicant i-replicant started as a hobby.....but has slowly evolved into something else!! After 20+ years of not writing or playing music I caught the bug again after hearing excellent bands Matinee Club, mind-in--a-box and all the great electronic music out there at the moment. I've been a fan of Gary Numan for as long as I can remember and he has been a huge influence on me musically. From the early days of Tubeway Army to the magnificent Jagged album of last year! About Lightsource - Lightsource is a concept I’ve had in my head since my childhood. Music was always my direction and at school and as a youngster I could focus on little else, always willing the week away till music lesson came and wanting it to last forever when it did. My first encounter with music was at the age of 3 when I had a desire to play the drums, my parents bought me a drum kit at the age of 5 and from then on there was no stopping me as the need for music in my life was made clear, playing along to old propaganda, and Phil Collins tracks I was alive and I was smiling in an uncontrollable fashion, I had found something that I loved at such a young age and the obsession has gone from strength to strength, I was always made an example of in music lessons and was always first choice to perform in school fates and cabarets and other schools even asked to borrow me for there shows, this was always with the purpose of being a percussionist but as much as I loved playing drums I always had a desire to write my own music, to have something that I could create as a way of xpression (and just coz its one of the best feelings in the world) This came to light when I was 16, I worked hard and earnt enough money to buy my first synth, it was a Yamaha CM1X,at this stage I had no recording equipment so I just spent hours gathering ideas and playing for my own enjoyment with nothing recorded at the end of each session, this seemed frustrating at the time but now I think I have those times to thank when I relive some of those melodies and now I am fortunate enough to have the means to capture these moments and share them with everyone, its a dream come true. I always wanted my music to be a symbol of xpression and individuality and 2 years ago Lightsource was born, a long time in the making and with alot of life xperience in tow, this is what has always mattered and this is now my voice, and I hope I can touch you with a little magic. You can capture a Lightsource moment on the Matchbox Recordings album Stay In The Box Volume 2, out now at iTunes and all good online Stores, and the 2007 album Another Day is also now available.

Lyrical electropop outfit Through The Square Window is centred on singer-songwriter Keith Harrison. TTSW draw influences from both classic and contemporary electronic acts such as Kraftwerk, Client, St Etienne, Ladytron, Yello etc. as well as more traditional songwriters as Charles Aznavour, Jake Thackray and Frank Tovey (particularly in post-Fad Gadget years.) TTSW are based in the rural south of England; however life and work in such cities as Edinburgh, Brussels and Paris has informed output. A new quartet of songs is due for recording in the early part of 2008; in all probability these will appear on this MySpace page in due course. Synth Groove is a solo studio electronic music artist who uses only synthesizers with a preference for vintage synthesizers and the classic synth sounds of the 80's. "Fine Time" consists of the two chameleonic musicians Tom Time (Drums, Percussions, Synths, Sequencing a.o.) and Phil Fine (Guitar, Bass, Samplez, Synths and Vocs). From time to time some guest-musicians like the gifted young songstress Charlène and "Mister Bubbleizer" TooFaze from the bands Last Equinox and Jeff Stryker and the Cumshot Snypers joining the band. To pigeonhole this band is an almost impossible mission. Their repertoire stretches across New Wave/Age, Electronic-Body-Music, Ambient Sounds to the point of Reggae-rhythms. A sound that has not been heard since the 80's. They mix modern sequencer-sounds with samples and conventional instruments like drums/percussions, guitar or bass-guitar. The musical results of this fusion are absolutly unique. The whole thing is rounded out by ambitious, political and sociocritical lyrics, which seemed to be extinct since the 70's. About Joss Weightman I can't pinpoint exactly when I started making music but it must have been when I was about 10 or 11. I made little mixes with a tape recorder and some pretty crude hardware. When I was 12 I acquired my first sampler which had a "loop remix" function. This was really when my beats started doing more than just looping, the loop remix function kind of re-arranged every part of the loop and randomly applied effects to each one - it was almost like a glitch VST but more satisfying. I still avoid software, apart from my beat programming - I own a bit of hardware now and I'm always getting more. Some of my prized possessions are the 1974 Minikorg and my 2002. Microkorg. Oh yeah, and I don't just to music - I'm into digital artwork, video editing, animation, you name it. Check out the site above. About Human Missile

Human Missile is a duo of two producers based in Kentucky that go under the psudeonyms of Nes-Simepolys and Zvue Southworth, Both were previously members of a minimalistic industrial band known as "SWVE" which formed in 2005. Due to the simplistic nature of the songs on SWVEs first album not long after the first release the group disbanded in early spring of 2007 which set the stage for Nes and Zvue to form a completely new band that took up the name Human Missile both members refused to continue recording under SWVE due to possible issues with the name's ownership rights which would be avoided just by forming a completely new band. by October of 2007 the duo had released two EPs which represented two different moods of the band. The first EP (The Missile And You) featured house, funk, ambient, and 16-bit influenced tracks based on a way of living a simple sustainable lifestyle trying to ignore the fact that all life could end, This EP was very well-received among gamers and clubbers alike. The second EP (Fear and Temptation) featured a noisier more experimental style with a minimalistic sound more faithful to the traditional SWVE sound, This EP proved to be not as successful as its predecessor with it being left un-promoted by online radio stations and only having 55 total downloads. Nes felt displeased with the way the EP turned out and demanded Zvue to spend more time in the studio contributing more. On the 21st of December 2007 the band released their self-titled album under the UK based Viral Records, On this very day the band released a single featuring two tracks on the upcoming follow up "Apollo" and "Forgive and Forget". As of 2008 the band has inducted a newcomer, a Kuwait-based vocalist by the name of Amadoh. The band is currently working on two releases for 2008, A hybrid compilation entitled "NuC13ar WaRfAr3" and a follow up studio album entitled "Castimonia". The band is currently in the recording stages of Castimonia and the album should be ready sometime this year.
