Why The Name Change?

Well, dang the corporate powers!

We got an official cease and desist from the company "Apple" claiming that our usage of "ipod" in the domain name is causing confusion with there device "ipod".

So, we've changed the name to MadCasterNetworks.com!

We know the change in the name bummed up a lot of podcasts for a week or so. We're really sorry for the in-convenience, but have it completely sorted now. We're moving forward with the new name, all the old links and names still work. Everything should be OK from here forward.

We thank you very much for your patience and support bearing with us through this most un-desirable but necessary change!

Does your podcast sound like chipmunks?

Does your podcast sound like chipmunks through the ipodnetworks.com player? If it does, it means you need to encode your MP3 files with more care!

There are 2 essential settings when creating a podcast that you need to be aware of.

First is bitrate. For a hifi file, we suggest using 128kbps, but this is not what makes your show sound like the chipmunks.

Second is the frequency. Hifi files should use 44,100 STEREO for the frequency, a lower setting is likely to make your show sound like the chipmunks and also reduces the quality of the audio and doesn't really do anything to save disk space or bandwidth!

Hifi podcasts should be encoded at:

128kbps bitrate and 44,100 frequency- and all will be right with the world around you ;)

Hope this helps!

A whole new face :)

So, you've noticed iPodNetworks.com looks quite a bit different I'm sure ;)

We're still working on updating the podcast feeds, so feeds will not be working until we get them rebuilt correctly. The reason for the downtime on the feed system, is that we need to rebuild it to support video which is now available!

We should have the feeds online in the next 12-24 hours'ish. It's proving to be a bit difficult, but not to bad ;)

Your podcast receiver (likely itunes) may show the feed as no longer available, don't delete it! It will work again shortly as if it never missed a beat!

Sorry for the inconvenience, when all is said and done hopefully everything will be a lot better though ;)

Cheers!

Video Podcasting Coming Soon!

Well, the ipod finally released a version that will support video.

Luckily we already support video here as well :)

Coming soon we will finally have the backend interface finished for you to upload and podcast videos!

At this time we have support for WMV video which likely doesn't work on the ipod, I don't see any support for it anyways...

But we are hoping to have MPEG-4 support quite soon.

We'll put up another post soon when the podcasting section is complete for supporting video...

Get ready!!
